How many lives can a terrible idea have?
Another year and we are yet again hearing rumblings about the proposed Potomac bridge crossing and Outer Beltway - while at the same time, VDOTs own studies have shown that the clear priorities should be the American Legion Bridge and the Rossyln Metro tunnel. MD Transportation Secretary Rahn agrees with these priorities but there are discussions ongoing between MD and VA about the potential for a bridge (WAMU- Virginia wants to talk to Maryland about a new Potomac Bridge -Again). While no agreement exits between the states on re-re-re-studying the bridge and associated highway that would bisect the Reserve, we have heard that there are moneyed interests in the Ag Reserve itself that are backing the bridge proposal. We remain vigilant- stay tuned.
