Some Ways Your Gift Helps:

$25 helps us speak for farms by crafting and delivering testimony at the County Council or Planning Board.

$50 helps fuel our Land Link program - connecting new farmers with land to get them growing.

$100 brings one high school class out on a farm field trip.

$500 funds a whole year of action alerts to mobilize our supporters to speak up for water, land and local farms.

Where does my donation go?
MCA is lean, yet highly regarded for effective use of its resources... With only two staff assisted by volunteer board members and interns, we are selective and strategic in the work that we take on.  MCA has been very successful in a variety of areas – from issue advocacy, to policy, education and coalition building. Visit our News page to follow the issues we are currently tackling.
Royce Hanson, former MC Planning Chair and architect of the Reserve writes:
“When leaving my second tour as the Chair of the County’s Planning Board, I described the role of that body as “a trustee for the future.” The same can be said of Montgomery Countryside Alliance as they work to ensure vibrant rural communities and a working landscape of viable farms in the County.”

MCA is proud to announce that we have been recognized for a third time as one of the best small charities in the D.C. region by Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington. A panel of 110 expert reviewers from area foundations, corporate giving programs, and peer non-profit organizations evaluated 270 applications.

MCA is known as an effective and innovative non-profit whose efforts to preserve and promote Montgomery County’s nationally recognized 93,000 acre Ag Reserve have brought increased public and governmental support of local food production and farmland and open space preservation. Most importantly, MCA’s efforts are putting more farmers on the ground and keeping them there.
