Happy Earth Day! We came across an incredible video from TEDEd. Trees in a forest have vastly more complex communication systems than we have known. Each tree is connected to the ones around it through a network of fungal mycorrhizae that transmit resources between trees and aid the tree in picking up more resources from the soil. Through these networks they are able to transmit resources to help fragile saplings grow or hear about invading insects from a neighbor and prepare themselves.
