Bill was both a fan of and visitor to the BCC Izaak Walton League near Poolesville and it was a fitting tribute to have so many community members gather in a place he loved. League President Joe Snider shared the chapter's pledge:
"To strive for the purity of water, the clarity of air, and wise stewardship of the land and its resources, To know the beauty and understanding of nature and the value of wildlife, woodlands, and open space, To the preservation of this heritage and to man's sharing in it.
"He might as well have been discussing Bill Roberts' tireless pursuit of conservation for the farms and open space of rural Montgomery County. This year the award was given in partnership with Sugarloaf Citizen's Associationand Historic Medley District, two organizations that also benefited immensely from Bill's advice and guidance.
MCA Co-Founder Dolores Milmoe spoke to Bill's great legal mind and humble spirit. She presented the slideshow below to capture Bill's victories on the part of local civic organizations and municipalities.
