Introducing PLENTY - The Ag Reserve Magazine

Want to be involved with PLENTY? Drop us a line- info@mocoalliance.org
PLENTY would be published three times a year and be available free of charge at a variety of venues in Montgomery County. For its initial issues of 20,000 each, it is estimated the ratio of editorial content to advertising would be approximately 75/25. Editorial content would consist of 5 to 6 feature stories, a photo essay, and a mix of departments.

Subject matter would cover a range of topics from profiles of farmers, artists, entrepreneurs  and leaders invested in the success and protection of the Agricultural Reserve, to its rich history, recreational opportunities, and trending agricultural issues. Some content would be solicited and edited by the PLENTYstaff and other features and departments would be produced by staff.

Financial support for the magazine would develop over time and consist of a mix of stakeholders, advertisers, advertorials, and multi-tiered partnerships from businesses, nonprofits and individuals, ranging from $250 to $1000 annually.

Currently there is no newspaper or magazine with an exclusive focus on the Agricultural Reserve and the immense economic benefit and opportunity it brings to the County and its residents. PLENTY would provide a needed voice for those striving to preserve and protect its value as a place to sustain and enrich its residents. It would also serve as a umbrella for advertisers to inform and educate about the abundance of products and services available through and for the Reserve. The digital versions of the magazine would provide readers with live links to advertisers’ and partners’ websites, videos or social media pages, thus giving an added boost to the local economy.

MCA is proud to announce that we have been recognized for a third time as one of the best small charities in the D.C. region by Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington. A panel of 110 expert reviewers from area foundations, corporate giving programs, and peer non-profit organizations evaluated 270 applications.

MCA is known as an effective and innovative non-profit whose efforts to preserve and promote Montgomery County’s nationally recognized 93,000 acre Ag Reserve have brought increased public and governmental support of local food production and farmland and open space preservation. Most importantly, MCA’s efforts are putting more farmers on the ground and keeping them there.
