Forests give us so much - thanks for being willing to support more trees in the Ag Reserve. There are as many ways to help as there are species in the forest and it will take everyone working together to achieve our ambitious reforestation goals. Please click the way you want to help and fill in the information (you can pick more than one!) We will be in touch to follow up.

At left planting near Little Monocacy River tributary.

We are currently Identifying fall  sites

Some of the Species planted this spring include:
Sycamore, Red oak, River birch, Black cherry, Eastern red cedar,  Black gum, Red maple, White oak.

We are specifically looking for acreage near stream buffers. Hosting a forest through Re-Leaf the Reserve is a long term commitment, requiring a category 1 Forest Easement on the area planted. See the MOU with the county that will need to be signed here.  This easement is permanent despite ownership of the property changing hands. A forest deserves forever.
Note: Thanks so much to all the property owners that have signed up to host trees!  Please note that we may not get to you for a site visit for some time. We only do plantings in Spring and Fall.
Please note: The Re-Leaf program is only for properties in the Ag Reserve. Unsure? Click here to check your zoning.  If you live in another part of the county, please check out the programs to reforest your property here.
I want to Host trees on my property

Thanks! Tell us a bit about your property...

We will add you to our email list - you can opt out at any time

The Ag Reserve is the Northern third of the county and properties in the Ag Reserve will have "AR" on their tax bill.  At this time- we are only starting reforestation projects in the Ag Reserve. Click this link to check your zoning before you apply.   If you live downcounty, there are a number of options to get you trees on your property- either free - or at at discount.

Be a Re-Leaf Champion!

Can you support the Re-Leaf Program with a tax-deductible donation? Your gift will really help this program get off the ground (and get trees into the ground). Thanks!

MCA is proud to announce that we have been recognized for a third time as one of the best small charities in the D.C. region by Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington. A panel of 110 expert reviewers from area foundations, corporate giving programs, and peer non-profit organizations evaluated 270 applications.

MCA is known as an effective and innovative non-profit whose efforts to preserve and promote Montgomery County’s nationally recognized 93,000 acre Ag Reserve have brought increased public and governmental support of local food production and farmland and open space preservation. Most importantly, MCA’s efforts are putting more farmers on the ground and keeping them there.
